Wicked Django may have been the longest shot on the board in the Grade 2 Autumn on Saturday at Woodbine, but that didn’t stop the Rodney Barrow trainee from not only winning, but also earning a 102 Brisnet Speed Rating – the highest of the week. Toward the rear early, he got a sharp pace in front of him for the 1 1/8-mile distance. He launched a menacing rally around the far turn, led in upper stretch, and ran on to win by 1 1/4 lengths. The effort also earned him a 92 Beyer Speed Figure.
The highest Beyer of the week, a 100, went to Kennedy Road (G2) winner Nobals. Winner of the 2023 Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint, the Larry Rivelli trainee had not won since though he ran fourth in both a top-shelf allowance at Saratoga and in the Kentucky Downs Turf Sprint (G2). In the Kennedy Road, a six-furlong sprint on the Woodbine Tapeta, he prompted odds-on favorite Patches O’Houlihan and outslugged him to win by three quarters of a length. The win also earned him a 100 Brisnet Speed Rating, the second highest of the week.
