Big City Lights earned a 100 Brisnet Speed Rating, the fastest of the week, in his 8 1/2-length victory in the Cary Grant Stakes on Saturday at Del Mar.
Winner of the Palos Verdes (G3) in February at Santa Anita, he was third in both the Triple Bend (G2) and Pat O’Brien (G2) in his first two starts since that graded win. The drop to California-bred company brought the Richard Mandella trainee back to top form. In addition to the fastest Brisnet rating of the week, he also earned a 95 Beyer for the effort.
The fastest Beyer of the week, a 100, went to Integration for his victory in the Red Smith (G2) at Aqueduct. Trained by Shug McGaughey, he rallied from midfield and kicked home to win by two lengths. The victory, which also earned a 96 Brisnet rating, was his first graded-stakes win since the Hill Prince (G2) over the same course in November 2023.
