Locked earned the highest speed figures of the week when he continued his impressive comeback with a win in Saturday’s Grade 2 Cigar Mile at Aqueduct.
With John Velazquez aboard for trainer Todd Pletcher, the 3-year-old Gun Runner colt rallied in the stretch to win by 1 1/2 lengths as the 2-1 favorite. He got a 102 Brisnet Speed Rating and a 111 Beyer Speed Figure for his performance.
Before the Cigar Mile, Locked had been off for nearly a year when he returned in October with a 7 1/2-length win in an optional-claiming allowance race at the Belmont at Aqueduct meet.
