The latest update on South Carolina’s injured players was posted to the SEC’s official website on Wednesday night, and it includes the latest on a couple of key pieces for the Gamecocks.
South Carolina plays at Alabama on Saturday at 12 o’clock. Which players have already been ruled out? An update from the SEC is posted below.
Jared Brown – Out
Kelvin Hunter – Out
Jakai Moore – Out
Jalewis Solomon – Doubtful
DeAndre Jules – Doubtful
O’Donnell Fortune – Probable
Dalevon Campbell – Probable
Vandrevius Jacobs – Probable
After the Ole Miss game, coach Shane Beamer said Fortune sustained an “upper body injury.”
“Jared Brown had to leave the game with the same injury (he previously sustained), and we’ll see about him,” Beamer said. “Dalevon Campbell, that pass down there in the end zone, he has a pretty significant shoulder. We’ll see where he is from that standpoint.”
Beamer also referenced Jules going down with an injury in that game.
Three players for Alabama are listed on their availability report: Linebacker Yhonzae Pierre is out. Kendrick Law and Kobe Prentice, both of whom play wide receiver, are listed as questionable. Prentice, who’s tied for third on the team in receptions, has eight catches for 107 yards and a touchdown over five games. Law’s caught two passes for 41 yards and a touchdown over four appearances. Pierre’s been in on four tackles. Like Prentice, he’s played in every game this season.

The availability report will be updated on Thursday and Friday at approximately 8 p.m. and there will be one final update before kickoff in Tuscaloosa. Beamer said the Tuesday of the Kentucky game that he will be working with head trainer Clint Haggard.
“I would imagine a lot of head coaches aren’t going to mess with it,” Beamer said, “just give it to the trainer, the trainer will say, ‘Does this look good,’ the head coach is going to look at it for five seconds and say, ‘Yeah, it’s fine.’ It’s not a big deal. It is what it is, and I don’t think it’ll be too time consuming from my standpoint.”
The SEC is requiring availability reports this season for the first time in its conference history. The availability report mandate only applies to games against conference opponents, so each school will only have to abide by the guidelines for eight of their 12 games in a given regular season.
Schools must release their initial availability report by 8 p.m. on Wednesday of each week and must update it daily with a final report coming 90 minutes prior to kickoff. Player status designations include “available,” “probable,” “questionable,” “doubtful,” or “out” before game day; and as “available,” “game time decision,” or “out” on game day.
There are consequences for non-compliance, which includes both inaccurate and late reporting, with fines to the school ranging from $25,000 to $100,000 for football.
Status definitions
Available: The player is fully available for the game
