South Aiken claims region title in girls golf
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – Over at the Sweetwater Country Club the South Aiken girls golf team claimed the Region 4-AAAA title.
T-breds Allie Thomas, Zoey Meldrum, Avery Palmer, Blair Wood and Daniella Penaloza finished with a team score of 328, an 87 shot win over Gilbert (415).
North Augusta (417) placed third, Aiken (448) followed in fourth and Midland Valley/Airport (515) rounded out the five.
Thomas claimed the individual leaderboard firing off a round of 73, 9 shots ahead of second place finisher Phoebe Hiner out of Aiken (82).
South Aiken had four on the All-Region 4-AAAA team, Wood (83) claimed the third spot. Meldrum, Palmer and North Augusta’s Phoebe Reese all shot an 86 to finish in fourth.
