MARTIN, Tenn. – Ian Lambert and Bryce Harmon have officially pledged to join the University of Tennessee at Martin golf program as head coach Austin Swafford announced the signing of the talented incoming freshman duo today.
Lambert will join the Skyhawks out of Jackson High School in Jackson, Mo. while Harmon is wrapping up his academic career at Bearden High School in Knoxville, Tenn. Each player is rated in the top 1,000 nationally in the Junior Golf Scoreboard standings as Lambert is ranked 732nd and Harmon checks in at 945th.
The 2024 Missouri Golf Association Male Junior Golfer of the Year, Lambert won the Missouri Junior Amateur Championship with rounds of 66-69 for a 135 (-9). He qualified for the Missouri Amateur by shooting a 71 (-1) at Dalhousie Golf Club in Cape Girardeau, Mo. He is the defending two-time Jackson Invitational medalist via scores of 72 and 69 at Kimbeland Country Club. He posted a runner-up finish in the Missouri Golf Association Jefferson City Fall Classic (70-71; 141, -3) as part of a dominant run in 2024.
Lambert placed inside the top-20 in both the 2024 and 2023 Missouri Class 5A State Golf Championship, tying for 18th place (147, 75-72) this year after finishing 11th (148, 75-73) in the 2023 event.
In addition to the Jackson Invitational, Lambert also carded medalist finishes at the Golfweek Junior Tour (two-day total of +2 at the Delaware Country Club) and the Poplar Bluff Invitational (70 at Westwood Hills Country Club) during his junior campaign. He tacked on tournament wins at the Southeast Missouri Conference (74 at Fox Haven Country Club) and Class 5 District 1 (72 at Crystal Highlands) events as a sophomore.
Lambert was a Missouri Class 5 state qualifier as a freshman, adding four more medalist tallies to his résumé (68 at the Gateway PGA event, 72 at the AJGA Junior All-Star at Quail Creek Qualifier, 70 at the Missouri Amateur Qualifier, 70 at the Poplar Bluff Invitational).
“Ian has had a stellar summer and really elevated his level of play,” Swafford said. “I believe his best golf is still ahead of him – he has a demeanor on the course that is one of the strengths of his game. He comes highly recommended from multiple people who know him well and I am excited for him to join our program.”
Becoming the latest in a recent run of Bearden alums to join the Skyhawks, Harmon will join his former prep teammate and rising sophomore Jaden Morrell on the 2025-26 roster. Harmon helped the Bulldogs finish second in the state under head coach Billie Davis this fall, which was the best performance in school history. That marked the fifth state tournament appearance for the program and second straight deep postseason run for BHS after a 40-year drought.
Harmon captured Region 2AA medalist honors during both his senior (career-best 64, -8) and junior (71, -1 while winning in a playoff) campaigns, placing 10th at the state tournament with a 148 (70-78) at Sevierville in 2024. This past April, he finished 17th overall and sixth-best of any Class of 2025 commit in a stacked field at the AJGA Preview Qualifier in Sevierville.
Harmon shot a 70 at the Tennessee Junior Am Qualifier at Old Fort and also carded a 144 (73-71) at the Tennessee Section PGA Junior event held at Henry Horton. He also accounted for a 67 in Round 2 of the GolfWeek Junior Tour Elite Event hosted by Kearney Hill. He qualified for the state tournament as an individual during his sophomore season and additionally posted the low score on his squad in the district and regional tournaments as a freshman.
On the Sneds Tour, Harmon has piled up eight medalist victories, 22 top-five and 31 top-10 finishes since 2017. His tournament wins include the 2024 Masters 2-Day (139, 66-73), the 2021 TMSGA East Region Championship (148, 76-72), the 2020 Patriot Hills (37), the 2020 Masters 2-Day (76), the 2020 Clinchview (39), the 2019 Country Club, Inc. (42), the 2019 Masters 2-Day (75) and the 2018 Beverly Park Par 3 (33).
“Junior golf in the state of Tennessee has elevated over the last few years so I am extremely excited to have Bryce join our program,” Swafford said. “His game is tested each week playing against other players from Tennessee and that will only benefit him as he prepares to play in college. He also comes from a competitive high school program so the team aspect of college golf will be very familiar to him and will make his transition very smooth.”
Lambert and Harmon join a UT Martin program that has captured three Ohio Valley Conference team championships and four OVC individual medalists over the last decade.
