WELLSBURG — Brooke’s search for new high school football coach went to the program’s past and up the river a few miles to find the next Bruins grid boss.

The Brooke County Board of Education approved the hiring of Frank Sisinni to lead the Bruins football program at its regular board meeting earlier this week.

Sisinni, who had a successful five-year stint as the Weir High head coach, will be Brooke’s third coach in as many years.

He is a 1990 graduate of Brooke and member of the 1987 state championship team. He was also an assistant coach at Brooke for two separate stints.

Sisinni had been at Weir High for the past 12 years, seven as an assistant football coach and the last five as head coach. He was also the head softball coach at Weir from 2016-19.

During his time as head coach of the Red Riders, he amassed a record of 23-28, including two trips to the playoffs and a state semifinal appearance in 2023.

The Red Riders went 1-9 last season with a youthful group.

He was the 2023 Herald-Star/Daily Times coach of the year and OVAC All-Star coach following that season.

He replaces Casey Goff, who resigned from Brooke after posting a 3-7 mark in his lone season last fall.

Mac McLean, another Brooke alum, had been the head coach at Brooke for the previous 10 seasons.

Both Brooke and Weir now compete in Class AAA in the new four-class system and traditionally play each other in an annual rivalry game late in the regular season.
