-Ramson highlights gov’t’s commitment to game’s development  

Legendary Guyanese and West Indian cricketer, Sir Clive Lloyd, is set to play a pivotal role in the operations of Guyana’s proposed Cricket Academy. This announcement was made by Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport, Charles Ramson Jr., during his year-end press conference yesterday.

The state-of-the-art academy will be constructed on a 20-acre plot at Good Hope on the East Coast of Demerara.  

While Sir Clive’s involvement in the project was initially hinted at last year during a cricket gear distribution exercise hosted by President Irfaan Ali,  Ramson confirmed that a formal contract will be finalized in the coming weeks.   “I want to update you on the Cricket Academy at Good Hope. We commenced the clearing of the area, and I also want to announce that Clive Lloyd has agreed to have a lead role in the project execution, as well as the operationalization of the Cricket Academy.
