A sick Clara Tauson was forced to withdraw from her match against Elise Mertens in the first round of the WTA-1000 tournament in Qatar Sunday afternoon.
Clara Tauson was visibly very uncomfortable on Sunday when she withdrew from her match in the first round of the WTA-1000 tournament in Doha.
The Dane made a large number of errors in the first set which she lost 0-6 to Belgian Elise Mertens, before she received medical attention for the second time in the match and shortly afterwards called it quits after just half an hour on the court.
Tauson, who seemed to be struggling with a stomach issue and was close to throwing up, was already down 5-0 when she asked for a medical timeout for the first time, but decided to try to continue.
However, after yet another one-sided game for Mertens, Tauson decided to throw in the towel.
