The fundraising initiative raised a total of £17,000 for Street Soccer Scotland, a not-for-profit organisation delivering football-inspired training and personal development opportunities for marginalised and vulnerable people.

The sell-out Santa’s Grotto contributed more £15,000 from ticket sales alone, with a further £2000 being raised from the bucket donation, face painting and additional donations.

(Image: Supplied) David Duke, CEO and founder of Street Soccer Scotland, said of the funds raised: “We have been overwhelmed by the generosity and kindness of Glasgow citizens this Christmas – and by many of the retailers in St Enoch Centre.

“The donations raised will allow us to offer more opportunities and support more disadvantaged adults and young people through our football-themed programmes.   

“We are incredibly grateful to St Enoch Centre for hosting the event and to all the shoppers who donated to our cause.”

George Reader, St Enoch Centre director, added: “Once again, the Glasgow public have dug deep to give to those who need it most.

“The funds raised will no doubt make a positive difference to the lives of people across Scotland.  

“We were delighted to see our Santa’s Grotto sell out in record time this year, demonstrating the high-quality of the event and the goodwill of St Enoch Centre shoppers.”
