LOWER BUCKS COUNTY, PA —A fire that destroyed a Bensalem Township bar and damaged a shopping center is under investigation. Meanwhile, a Philadelphia man is in custody for illegal straw gun purchases.

A fire that ripped through a Bensalem Township shopping center and caused “significant damage” to a popular bar is under investigation, fire officials said. Fire crews and police said that Bucks County 911 Center received a call at 3:58 a.m. Thursday that heavy black smoke was coming from the roof of the Andalusia Bar and Grill at 971 Bristol Pike. A firearms investigation by Bucks County, state, and regional authorities has led to 180 charges against a Philadelphia man for his purchase of 20 guns over three years, court records state. Jawone Shakour Williams, 32, of Philadelphia, was arrested last week after an investigation by Bucks County Detectives, the state Attorney General’s Office, and regional law enforcement, a criminal complaint obtained by Patch states. Six men have been charged after authorities took down a chop shop in Milford Township where hundreds of thousands of dollars in stolen parts were sold to the Dominican Republic. State Police located several stolen vehicles and stacks of stolen vehicle parts that were ready to be shipped overseas inside a garage at 2150 Rosedale Rd., authorities said. (Read More)

An intruder at William Tennent High School early last month had parents blasting officials for how they handled the threat at a heated Centennial School Board meeting on Tuesday night. High school parents Stephen and Michelle LuBrant spoke during public comments at the end of the meeting to complain about receiving a “vague email” about a trespasser in the high school for four hours on Sept. 4. Two people are in custody for trying to steal copper wire after tracking down a vehicle that had fled from the scene, police said. At 2:01 p.m. last Friday, the Lower Makefield Township Police Department said police were flagged down in the 100 block of Taylorsville Road by a passerby who stated a man was on the side of the road cutting wires from the utility poles.
