STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – If you’re stopping by the newly opened Aldi in Greenridge Plaza, you might want to pick up a Mama Cozzi’s Deli Pizza or the Park Street Hummus. According to the store’s 2024 Fan Favorites Survey, those are two of the brand’s top sellers.
“There is a lot of Aldi love out there, and the Fan Favorites Survey gives our shoppers a chance to share feedback on their go-to products,” Scott Patton, vice president of national buying, noted in a press release. “Listening to customer voices is just one of the ways we remain a leader in the private label space and cultivate shopper loyalty.”
And the discount grocer is planning a second Staten Island location.
“We are excited to share that we are planning to welcome a new Aldi to Staten Island by early next year,” Chris Daniels, Aldi’s South Windsor Division vice president, said in a statement, confirming the company’s intentions but not officially disclosing the location.
However, construction workers are removing the exterior shell of the supposed Amazon Fresh in New Dorp and readying the half-built property for Aldi, which – according to Department of Buildings records and an open employment listing – will soon be the strip mall’s next anchor tenant.
Now in its sixth consecutive year, the Aldi Fan Favorites Survey reveals the 13 Aldi items shoppers are obsessed with nationwide. Broken down into categories – “Charcuterie Favorite,” “Cozy Comfort,” “In a Pinch,” etc. – the list details consumer buying patterns in different sections of the store.
This year, for the first time, the retailer empowered buyers to bring one limited-edition Aldi Find back to shelves through the new “Aldi Encore” category.
“We constantly monitor consumer patterns and feedback to not only help us stay on trend, but also predict what items customers will love,” Chantel Hailer, Aldi director of buying for trends, noted in the press release. “Our fans shared their love loudly for this one, so we’re bringing back the popular Huntington Home Swedish Dish Cloth to the Aldi Finds aisle after it flew off the shelves last year in just two weeks. We’ll have refreshed designs and are also adding a new holiday edition.”
Also returning? The Barissimo Barista Cold Foam, which hit a record 2,000,000 purchases over the past 12 months, according to the grocery chain.
“We’ve added Pumpkin Spice Cold Foam and even an Oat Milk version to make sure there’s something for everyone in the Aldi Finds aisle,” the store noted.
