BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – Santa is on his way right on time for Christmas tomorrow, but some people still had some last-minute gifts to grab to put under the tree for friends and family.
“We’re actually coming for Uncle Tito to get his last minute gifts,” shopper Nakia Kennedy said.
Kennedy can’t wait to surprise her family with gifts from shops at the Tanger Outlet Center in Gonzales.
“Anything we find or pick up for anybody special, we’re just going to get it,” Kennedy said.
“Every year, it’s like those last-minute shoppers or those last-minute things that you forget to get, you look at your tree and you think oh gosh I need to get one more thing for somebody, or y’know, it’s always that little bit of panic mode,” Angela Lafleur, Tanger Outlet Center general manager said.
Lafleur says while some people like to do their shopping online, going in person—even if it’s last minute—can help you get around shipping delays or items that didn’t quite make the nice list.
“When you get in the store, you can touch it, you can feel it, you can look at it, and you’ll say yeah this is not the kind of fabric I wanted, yeah this is not the print I wanted, or yeah this is exactly what I was looking for and I can take it home now,” Lafleur said.
“It all depends on how you make it, if you prepare yourself for that, still wait to the last minute to do this do that, prepare yourself for those times, it’ll be much smooth, will go by easier, you know,” shopper Don Broden said.
Broden came out today to avoid the crowds and traffic from yesterday and says his daughter is leading the way.
“We’re gonna go by the outlet, we gotta go by the children’s place, we’re going to pretty much go here and there, pretty much, still as she follow me I gotta follow her, you know?” Broden said.
“A few last minute things, um, not nothing major, maybe a gift card here and there, and any little sales we can catch, we’re here for it,” Lawanda Major said.
Mother-daughter pair Lawanda Major and Jakira Robertson ran into some sales.
“Anytime I get to come home and hang with all my family is so fun, and that’s what I’m looking forward to. And I lucked out with Champion, I got some gear,” Robertson said.
“Tanger always has great sales, but at holidays, we stack those savings on top of savings,” Lafleur said.
Whether you did your shopping early this year or had to dash through traffic to grab some gifts, Lafleur wishes everyone a Merry Christmas.
“We just hope everybody has a very Merry Christmas and safe holidays, and come back to see us in the new year!” Lafleur said.
The Tanger Outlet Center closes at 6 p.m. today, but there are some other shops still open if you are still needing to do some shopping.
