Will Howard led Ohio State football to a national championship this past season. Let’s start with that.
However, the Buckeyes quarterback didn’t have a great combine. Although parts of his performance showcased what could be a first-round pick, he often had some accuracy issues when trying to throw to open receivers. Let’s just say that Colorado Buffaloes superstar quarterback Shedeur Sanders was among those supporting Howard. He also gave a breakdown on why some of those combine skills tests are more difficult than normal fans think.
Sanders isn’t wrong with his breakdown, either. Obviously, Howard has what it takes to both captain a team of top-tier college athletes and win a national championship. Overcoming the adversity the Buckeyes had towards the end of the season isn’t easy, and Howard took most of that criticism upon himself and went out and conquered the college football world. After several seasons with Kansas State, many were skeptical that Howard could lead the Buckeyes far in the College Football Playoff, but he didn’t just lead them to a CFP berth but ran the table and took down goliath names like Texas, Oregon, Tennessee and Notre Dame.
That said, here’s exactly how Sanders phrased his support.
Howard had a terrific season with the Buckeyes. The 6-foot-4 quarterback ended with a conference-high 4,010 passing yards and 35 touchdowns. He also had a Big Ten-best 73% completion rate, all of those three being the best of his five-year career as well. Not only did he put up career numbers, but he helped players like Jeremiah Smith and Emeka Egbuka, who is expected to be a first-round pick, shine.
Howard has the talent, so hopefully, he can put it together with whatever team does end up taking him in the late-April NFL draft.
