The most controversial star in college football is now expected to be the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Shedeur Sanders has run the Colorado Buffaloes to a 7-2 record and is now +200 on FanDuel to be the top pick in the draft.
Sanders now leapfrogs fellow quarterbacks Cam Ward (+750), Jaxson Dart (+1500), and Jalen Milroe (+2200).
Sanders’ teammate, two-way superstar Travis Hunter, is the second favorite to go No.1 overall at +340.
It’s been an incredible ride for the Buffaloes, now ranked No. 18 in the country, behind Sanders and Hunter.
Currently, the Giants (2-8) and Jaguars (2-8) are in heavy competition for that coveted No. 1 pick as both teams struggle.
Of course, the Jaguars are highly unlikely to give up on quarterback Trevor Lawrence, so if Jacksonville does grab the top slot in the draft, Sanders would likely need them to trade out of the spot to a QB-needy team.
Sanders wouldn’t be in this position without his impressive run alongside his father, Deion Sanders, who has repeatedly said that his son won’t play for just any team.
However, ESPN draft expert Mel Kiper Jr. disagrees, arguing that quarterbacks are being pushed too far up the leaderboard.
Sanders is ranked No. 11 on his Big Board, just ahead of Ward.
This Buffaloes team is a far cry from the team that barely defeated North Dakota State University to open their season.
Coach Sanders’ group has righted the ship and defeated three solid teams in Arizona, Cincinnati, and Texas Tech consecutively.
The Buffaloes face Utah on Saturday as 9.5-point favorites.
