NACOGDOCHES, Texas (KTRE) – SFA has announced that men’s basketball coach Kyle Keller has been relieved of his duties.
SFA made the announcement in a press release Wednesday evening, citing Keller’s “disappointing” 1-7 start in Southland Conference play.
SFA last won a conference championship in 2022 and the last tournament appearance was in 2018.
“We want to thank Kyle for his positive contributions and leadership over the past nine seasons, including memorable and iconic wins at some of the most hallowed sites in college basketball that will forever be etched in SFA history,” said Michael McBroom, SFA director of athletics. “We wish him well in his future opportunities.”
Associate Head Coach Tony Jasick will serve as interim head coach for the remainder of the season. The university will begin a national search for a new head coach.
Keller’s Lumberjacks caught national attention in 2019, when they went on the road to beat No. 1 ranked Duke. SFA was on its way to a possible NCAA Tournament berth, when COVID shut down the season.
