In a very wild and off-putting turn of events that I, quite frankly, can’t even begin to describe, four-time Olympic gold medalist, Paris 2024 torchbearer, and more-than-iconic former tennis player Serena Williams has reportedly been denied entry to The Peninsula hotel’s rooftop in Paris—and I don’t think my eyebrows will lower from their much-raised position anytime soon.
According to Williams’ very recent post on X, the Parisian hotel denied access to its rooftop to Williams and her children.
“I’ve been denied access to rooftop to eat in a empty restaurant of nicer places,” reads Williams’ post. “But never with my kids.”
Williams did not provide further context or information in any other post, leaving followers to wonder why the hotel made such an ill-informed decision. Thrillist reached out to representatives of The Peninsula hotel in Paris for comment, and the story will be updated if they respond to our query.
In addition to her role in the Paris opening ceremony, Williams has also been in the City of Light to take in the action at the Games. On Sunday, she was spotted at Stade Roland-Garros watching Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz face off in the men’s singles tennis final next to Thomas Bach, the International Olympic Committee’s president.
