Serena Williams, the winner of 23 Grand Slam women’s singles titles, sat for an “INBOUND” interview with Kara Swisher on Thursday. During the interview, when the host asked her to share any parenting advice, she admitted that does not have any. However, she later went on to humorously ask the audience to give her parenting advice. Soon after, Serena Williams noted that to be a champion parent, one just has to show up and be there for their children.
In a recent interview with “INBOUND,” Serena Williams opened up about raising her children in the digital age. She talked about how she is trying to stay positive in a world where there is a lot of negative energy. Williams said, “It’s a scary world. It’s a digital world for kids right now.” The 42-year-old further revealed, “I’m always on with my daughter, but we don’t allow her on certain platforms.”
Williams then discussed how everything is available online and how easy it is for kids to have access to different content. She explained, “It’s so interesting that with everything available online and the access that kids have.” Continuing, she said, “In a second, you never know what can come to them. Like I said, I’m trying to think positively.”
When asked about parenting advice, Serena Williams stated, “I don’t have any [advice].” Moreover, talking about being a champion, the Olympic medalist added, “I feel like everybody’s a champion. You don’t have to be winning Wimbledon or a gold medal to be a champion… Being a champion is really just being there for your kids. I think that’s a huge champion.”
Williams also conveyed that she is trying to go slow with the electronic gadgets when it comes to her 7-year-old daughter, Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr. She said, “I feel like we might try to take it slow with her and go a little bit slower with electronics.” Moreover, the mother-of-two just wants her to be a kid for as long as possible.
