ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4)—On Thursday, Illinois Senator Tammy Duckworth was joined by other elected officials for a town hall to hear directly from veterans who have lost their government jobs due to Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) cuts.
Three veterans who held government jobs said they were sideswiped by their employer when DOGE and the Trump administration laid them off. They all served in various branches of the government and said they were good workers in their civilian lives. They also said they did not have performance issues.
The veterans told lawmakers they also have concerns about their healthcare and other service cuts.
Thousands of veterans have already been fired around the country by DOGE.
