Tennessee football is coming off its second 10-win season in the last three years and is looking to build off of that success as they enter Josh Heupel’s fifth season as head coach.

Internally, the Vols are confident that they can sustain their strong level of play from recent seasons. But how do the experts in Las Vegas view Tennessee ahead of the 2025 season?

The Vols have the third highest over/under of any SEC team entering the 2025 season. Both Texas and Georgia have over/under win totals at 10.5. Alabama and Ole Miss are right behind Tennessee at 9 while LSU is at 8.5, Texas A&M is at 8 and Oklahoma is at 7.

Two of the most interesting over/under win totals are for South Carolina and Florida. The Gamecocks and Gators both have an over/under of 6.5 wins. With talented quarterbacks returning and strong closes to the 2024 season, both Florida and South Carolina have received plenty of media hype ahead of the 2025 season.

Tennessee has a good bit of roster movement following its 10-3 (6-2 SEC) 2024 season that saw the Vols make the College Football Playoffs for the first time ever.

On the offensive side of the ball, Tennessee loses SEC Offensive Player Dylan Sampson, at least three starting offensive lineman and a number of contributions at receiver. Defensively, Tennessee loses Will Brooks, James Pearce and a number of other defensive linemen.

But Tennessee has a number of crucial players back starting with quarterback Nico Iamaleava. The Vols also return an abundance of key players on defense especially on the back two levels.

The Vols play the same eight SEC teams from a season ago with the location of the games flipped. Tennessee plays critical road games at Alabama and Florida as well as key home games against Georgia, Arkansas and Oklahoma.

Heupel’s fifth Tennessee team faces Syracuse in its season-opener in Atlanta in its marquee non conference matchup.
