Final grade: B-
Sam Pittman bought himself another season, so that’s a slightly better than satisfactory grade on this report card. The Razorbacks’ offense was better in spurts under Bobby Petrino and the win over Tennessee represented where this program could be when it all comes together. Unfortunately, that hasn’t happened much during Pittman’s tenure. Blowout losses to LSU and Ole Miss were a bit more indicative of where Arkansas is right now.
Final grade: B
Ole Miss supporters and NIL efforts strengthened this roster to the extent of being the most-talented in program history, but the Rebels again fell short of their ultimate prize in reaching the playoff. An inexcusable loss to Kentucky preceded a setback at Florida late that disrupted Lane Kiffin’s postseason plan. Ole Miss made vast improvements defensively, leading the SEC in havoc numbers and Jaxson Dart was terrific with 4,279 yards passing and 29 touchdowns.
Final grade: D
A 2-6 start to SEC play isn’t going to cut it for Brent Venables. That can’t happen again. Without being able to block the opposition, Oklahoma struggled mightily. No team in college football allowed more sacks (50) this season. After starting the campaign 4-1, Oklahoma went 2-6 the rest of the way including lopsided defeats against Texas, South Carolina and LSU.
Final grade: B
The Aggies fell one win short of a trip to Atlanta to play in the SEC Championship Game, but largely struggled this season against the good teams on their schedule. Mike Elko showed promise with a portal-infused roster and Marcel Reed had a nice campaign, but losses to South Carolina, Texas and USC late certainly stung.
