How the Seahawks will line up at cornerback is something of a mystery other than the fact that Devon Witherspoon will be starting, and that his flexibility to play inside and out gives the Seahawks different options to deploy. Presumably rookie Nehemiah Pritchett, who took over for an injured Riq Woolen in Week 5, will have a role, then it will come down to how the Seahawks want to use Jobe, Hicks, Dee Williams, or perhaps safety Coby Bryant, who also has cornerback experience, having played nickel corner as a rookie, and outside cornerback in college.
“If Spoon’s not at nickel, then you would see some other guys you might not have seen but have been repping there,” Macdonald said. “We’ll leave the combinations, let (the Falcons) figure that out at this point. But yeah, Spoon will play nickel at some point. Other guys will play nickel as well. They’ve all gotten those reps, so we should be ready to go.”
Jobe, who signed with the Seahawks just before the start of the regular season, spent the last two seasons with the Eagles after going undrafted out of Alabama in 2022. He has appeared in 28 games, including all 17 last season, starting three.
Hicks, who also signed with the Seahawks in late August, was a 2022 seventh-round pick out of Wisconsin. He has spent time with the Broncos, Saints and Browns over the past two seasons, appearing in two games for the Broncos as a rookie.
