Scotus Central Catholic girls golf completed a run of three tournaments in five days on Monday.
The Shamrocks won the Pierce Invite on Saturday at Pierce Community Golf Course. They recorded a team score of 382 defeating Laurel-Concord-Coleridge by 37 strokes. It was their second tournament title in three days.
Scotus senior Quinn VunCannon won individual gold for the second straight carding an 81. Junior Kiya Taylor and sophomore Ava Sokol rounded out the top five. Taylor recorded a 97 and Sokol ended the day with a 99.
Shamrocks sophomore Libby Langan medaled with the 12th-lowest score in the field of 105. Junior Brynn Homolka completed the round shooting a 113.
“Our scores are headed in the right direction and we continue to concentrate on consistency from tee to green,” Scotus head coach Tanya Niedbalski said. “Our putting continues to improve. The team has been spending a lot of time on the putting practice green focused on two putts or less per green.”

On Monday, Scotus placed third at the Blair Invite at River Wilds Golf Club shooting a 378. Elkhorn North won the tournament posting a 362. Gretna East finished as the runner-up with a 370.

“I like this tournament as we get to play against some tough Class B schools. An opportunity for us to see how well we can compete against larger schools,” Niedbalski said. “Ava (Sokol), Libby (Langan) and Brynn (Homolka) had not played the course prior to competing (Monday). They all wish they could have some shots back, but they have been improving as the season goes on.
“The girls did a good job of keeping their composure even with some mistakes we made. We had some uncharacteristic penalty strokes, but this is a tough course.”
