Kentucky Derby winner Mystik Dan continues to be a regular presence on the work tab. Unraced since the Belmont Stakes, this is his fourth consecutive weekly workout since returning to serious training.
Mullikin returned to the work tab Saturday morning for the first time since the Breeders’ Cup Sprint, covering four furlongs at Keeneland in 49.0 seconds. A three-length third behind Straight No Chaser, the Breeders’ Cup marked the first defeat of the year for the Rodolphe Brisset trainee. Through the course of 2024 Mullikin has won four times, ascending from the allowance ranks to win both the Forego (G1) and the John A. Nerud (G2) before his Breeders’ Cup placing.
Post Time, second in the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile, also worked Saturday for the first time since Del Mar. He went four furlongs in 49.6 seconds over the dirt at trainer Brittany Russell’s Fair Hill base. In the money in all eight of his starts this year, the Frosted colt was making up late ground but ended up 1 1/2 lengths behind forwardly-placed Full Serrano.
