We are excited to announce a renewed partnership with the fine folks and handicappers at 1/ST BET. Jeremy Plonk and Jeff Siegel will be sharing their expertise on a weekly basis to pass along some ponies that they like for races at various tracks around the country, including Santa Anita.
For this Sunday, February 23 article, Jeff Siegel shares everything you need to know for the racing card for Santa Anita.
Top Selection/Prime Play: 3-Cuban Confusion
Forecast: Irish invader Cuban Confusion-Ire ran well with better horses (winners) last summer, and the local workouts should have him plenty fit for a winning effort against this moderate older maiden group. The barn sends them fit and ready, and this first time Lasix user gets Frankie Dettori and has the kind of tactical speed to be where he wants to be. Yes, he’s a long-time maiden, but this group is well within his reach. Let’s make him a win play and rolling exotic single.
Top Selection/Prime Play: 4-Butterfly Beach
Forecast: Butterfly Beach was given an outing in her debut in a turf sprint last month. She was closing with interest, found her best stride late, and looks ready to graduate in this sprint affair for sophomore state-bred maiden fillies. This a filly of some ability, and we suspect she’ll be allowed to show it today.
