SAN FRANCISCO, California — San Francisco police have uncovered illegal gambling operations in the Tenderloin district, resulting in multiple arrests and citations. The investigation, conducted by the SFPD Narcotics Unit, targeted three businesses suspected of operating as illegal gambling facilities.On January 28, 2025, at approximately 4:26 p.m., officers executed search warrants at locations on the 400 block of Ellis Street and the 300 block of Jones Street, according to a press release from the San Francisco Police Department. During the operation, investigators detained several individuals and seized evidence, including illegal gambling machines, over $30,000 in U.S. currency, suspected narcotics, and more than 80 items believed to be stolen in organized retail theft.Four adult males were arrested for various violations, including operating an illegal gambling parlor, outstanding arrest warrants, and narcotics-related charges. Among those arrested were 25-year-old Hicham Haddaj, 22-year-old Donald RedmondHayes, 34-year-old Matthew Satawake, and 38-year-old Jaime Gomez-Macias, all of San Francisco. Additionally, 11 others were cited for misdemeanor violations.Hicham Haddaj faces charges including methamphetamine for sale, operating a drug house, participating in illegal gambling, resisting arrest, receiving stolen property, and permitting illegal gambling. Donald RedmondHayes was charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, possession of sedatives for sale, false impersonation, and participating in illegal gambling. Matthew Satawake was charged with participating in illegal gambling and betting or wagering.
