After the program’s first NCAA Tournament appearance in 24 years, Samford will take on one of the toughest non-conference schedules in program history this season.
The Bulldogs’ non-conference schedule includes several matchups against postseason teams, highlighted by trips to Michigan State (Nov. 19) and Sweet Sixteen participant Arizona (Dec. 18).
This will be Samford’s second trip to Arizona, with the Bulldogs losing 86-57 on Nov. 12, 2006 in Tucson; this year will be the first time Samford and Michigan State have faced each other.
Samford will open the season at home against Division II Mississippi College on Nov. 4 before traveling to National Invitation Tournament participant Cornell on Nov. 8.
Samford will also host a multiple-team event at the Pete Hanna Center this season from Nov. 26-29, facing off against North Dakota State, Utah Valley and West Georgia.
The Bulldogs also face in-state opponents North Alabama and Alabama A&M this season, both of which on the road.
The full Southern Conference slate was announced in August.
Last season, Samford finished 29-6 overall and 15-3 in Southern Conference play, winning the SoCon Tournament title with a 76-69 win over East Tennessee State. The Bulldogs fell to No. 17 Kansas in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, 93-89.
