Samantha Espineira knows how to turn heads, both on and off the runway. The successful model and Instagram influencer regularly shares breathtaking photos with her fans, and her latest post in a striking blue swimsuit was no exception. But beyond her glamorous looks, Espineira is dedicated to staying fit and strong. She recently opened up about her fitness journey, highlighting the habits that keep her in top shape. From intense strength training to outdoor adventures, here are the five key ways she stays active and glowing.
Espineira makes sure to workout on a regular basis. In this Instagram post’s caption, she talked about her fitness journey. “Exactly 1 year ago I decided to challenge myself, it has been 12 months of pure discipline and dedication, ups and downs but I am very proud that I never gave up, eternally grateful to my coach @davidviera10x who has always filled me with strength and motivation šš»”
One thing that Espineira does to keep herself in shape is strength train. In this Instagram video, she is seen doing side raises and squats with weights. Strength training is very beneficial. The Mayo Clinic says, “Strength training can help you manage or lose weight, and it can increase your metabolism to help you burn more calories.”
In the previous Instagram video, Espineira is seen doing squats. NASM says that this exercise has a lot of benefits. “The squat is an effective exercise for improving lower body muscular endurance, strength and power. It is a compound movement involving many joint actions and associated musculature. Individuals performing the squat exercise should be aware of common faulty movement patterns that occur at the foot/ankle, knees, and hips. By becoming aware and consequently correcting these faulty movements novice exercisers will be able to avoid unnecessary and preventable injuries during exercise.”
Espineira spends a lot of time outside. One thing she does to keep herself in shape is ride horses. She included some photos and videos of herself and some friends riding in the Rio Negro in this Instagram post. According to a study from Texas A&M, riding has a lot of benefits. “Riders engaged in cutting and reining experienced more intense exercise in short durations, while walk-trot-canter provided a greater total energy expenditure. The study data suggests that it is possible, if riding at the more intense gaits such as long trot and canter, for health benefits to be achieved through accumulated weekly horseback riding.”
In the previous Instagram post, Espineira is seen on a hike. Harvard Health says that hiking is very beneficial. “Navigating a winding, wooded trail can help your body build endurance, strength, and coordination, says Dr. Edward Phillips, assistant professor of physical medicine and rehabilitation at Harvard Medical School. Hiking over uneven terrain requires more energy than walking on a level surface, so it burns more calories. If you are hiking uphill, your body has to work even harder, he says. A rigorous hike may offer many of the same physical benefits as interval training, which alternates low- and high-intensity exercise to increase cardiovascular fitness. During a hike, your heart rate goes up as you move up an incline and drops when you head downhill.”
