QatarEnergy LNG has awarded Saipem a $4-billion offshore platforms/pipelines construction contract.

The Combined COMP3A & COMP3B of the North Field Production Sustainability Offshore Compression Program is designed to sustain production from the North Field gas reservoir offshore north-east Qatar.

Saipem’s scope of work covers engineering, procurement, fabrication and installation of six platforms; around 100 km of corrosion-resistant alloy rigid subsea pipelines of 28-in. and 24-in.’ diameter; 100 km of subsea composite cables; 150 km of fiber optic cables; and other subsea facilities.

This is in addition to the EPC package the company is currently working on for the North Field Production Sustainability Offshore Compression Complexes Project-COMP 2, awarded in October 2022.
