Carlos Sainz will be investigated by the stewards for an alleged unsafe release during qualifying for the Qatar Grand Prix.
During the second part of the grid-setting session at the Lusail International Circuit, the Ferrari driver was seen being sent into the pit lane by his team and right into the path of Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton.
The pair did not come close to making contact, but the seven-time F1 drivers’ champion was forced to slam on the brakes of his W15, whilst the Spaniard steered out the way of the live lane in the pits.
The FIA stewards decided they would like a closer look and will investigate the incident more thoroughly at the end of the qualifying hour with Sainz summoned to report to the stewards at 22:30 local time, where he will be joined by Hamilton.
