BOCA RATON, Fla. (CBS12) — Two men are accused of infiltrating a Boca Raton Cricket Wireless store and making off with over $3,000 worth of smartphones after an employee opened the safe to keep them from stealing from her.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO) responded to a burglary report at a Cricket Wireless store in Boca Raton on September 24, 2023.
The victim told deputies that two men entered the store and made their way into the employees-only area. Concerned about her personal belongings, the victim followed them inside and saw one of the men take her lunchbox, which she believed contained her phone.
The probable affidavit stated that to retrieve her lunchbox, the victim offered to open the store’s safe for the suspects. The men took off with $3,360 worth of phones that were inside the safe and abandoned her lunchbox.

PBSO noted that during the burglary, the victim noticed her phone was actually sitting on a nearby table. She grabbed it, ran out of the store, and called 911.
According to officials, the suspects escaped through the back exit but left behind a baseball cap. PBSO collected the cap and conducted DNA testing, which led to the identification of one of the suspects, Lias Corker, 36.
Detectives interviewed Corker, who reportedly did not deny being in the store but claimed he couldn’t remember the burglary.
Corker now faces charges of burglary of an occupied structure without a weapon and grand theft of over $750 but less than $5,000.
