Kate Hudson is facing the pressure in the first trailer for Netflix’s new show “Running Point, which will premiere on Feb. 27.
After a scandal leads to her brother’s forced resignation, Isla Gordon (Hudson) is appointed the new president of the basketball team the Los Angeles Waves — much to the dissatisfaction of the men around her. Isla has to prove to her brothers, the board and the wider sports community that she is fit for the job and can take on the stressors that come with it.
The cast includes Brenda Song (“The Social Network”), Drew Tarver (“The Other Two”), Scott MacArthur (“The Mick”), Fabrizio Guido, (“Mr. Iglesias”), Toby Sandeman (“The Game”), Chet Hanks (“Greyhound”), Jay Ellis (“Insecure”), Max Greenfield (“New Girl”), Keyla Monterroso Mejia (“Freeridge”), Roberto Sanchez (“Palm Royale”), Uche Agada (“Rise”) and Dane DiLiegro (“Prey”).
“Running Point” comes from “The Mindy Project” team of Mindy Kaling, Ike Barinholtz and David Stassen. This show marks Kaling’s latest project after Season 3 of Max’s “The Sex Lives of College Girls,” which was also produced by Kaling International in association with Warner Bros. Television, where she has an overall deal.
Executive producers for “Running Point” include Hudson, Howard Klein for 3 Arts Entertainment, Jeanie Buss and Linda Rambis. Showrunner Stassen previously worked as a showrunner on “The History of the World: Part II” and was an executive producer on films like “Blockers” and “The Oath.”
