CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women’s golf team is tied for 15th on Friday after two rounds of play at Ruth’s Chris Tar Heel Invitational, hosted by North Carolina at Finley Golf Club.
TEAM
- The Spartans carded a 19-over-par (299) on Saturday to move into a tie for 15th with Rollins College at 49-over-par (609) through two rounds.
- UNCG moved up one spot to second in the tournament with a 3.12 stroke average on par threes.
- The Spartans earned 47 more pars on Saturday and now have 96 in the tournament. Additionally, UNCG posted 10 birdies on the day for a total of 15 so far on the weekend.
- Michigan State moved into first place on Saturday at nine-over-par (569).
INDIVIDUAL
- Senior Ava Romfo shot two-over-par (72) on Saturday and continues to lead the Spartans at six-over-par (146). She is tied for 27th in the tournament.
- Sophomore Kasey McIlvaine is second on the team and tied for 42nd at eight-over-par (148) after shooting a two-over-par (72) on Saturday.
- Freshman Sophie Lauture moved up to third for UNCG and tied for 73rd overall after shooting four-over-par (74) in the second round for 16-over-par (156) in the event.
- Junior Julia Baeumken is fourth on the team and tied for 83rd at 19-over-par (159) with rounds of 78 and 81.
- Sophomore Elle Burnette is tied for 88th after finishing Saturday 24-over-par (164) after carding an 82 in each of the first two rounds.
- Duke’s Andie Smith moved into first on the second day of the tournament at six-under-par (134).
