ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – Rockford police officers gathered Thursday night at Walmart to shop with families in the community.
Eight families walked the aisles with officers as they filled up their shopping carts with essentials for the holiday season. The Rockford Police Department teamed up with Walmart to provide the opportunity to families in need.
The shopping spree is called Walmart Wishes. While families do grab food and necessary items, police put an emphasis on throwing some fun things in the cart like toys and games.
Police highlight opportunities like Walmart Wishes because it allows them to interact with the community and humanizes them.
