(KWQC) – Tennis star and Rock Island native Madison Keys is off to a hot start right now as she competes in the Australian Open.
The No. 19 seed pulled off a massive upset on Day 9 as she beat the No. 6 seed Elena Rybakina 6-3, 1-6, 6-3 in the women’s fourth round to move on to the quarterfinals.
Keys is the 2017 U.S. Open runner-up. Rybakina was the 2022 Wimbledon champion.
Keys has now extended her win streak to nine matches.
She plays at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the quarterfinals where she will face Elina Svitolina, a 6-4, 6-1 winner against Veronika Kudermetova.
