A review meeting for organising the 2nd Shaheed Chandrashekhar Azad Memorial T20 Cricket Tournament by the Union Territory Cricket Association (UTCA), Chandigarh, was held today.
The event is scheduled to start on February 7 at Tau Devi Lal Stadium in Panchkula. The tournament will feature six teams competing on a franchise model similar to the Indian Premier League (IPL).
The review meeting, chaired by UTCA president Sanjay Tandon, was held to finalise the outline and assign responsibilities to the core team.
The initiative aims to promote cricket among the youth and corporates, fostering local talent while providing a professional platform for players.
Rupesh Singh has been appointed as tournament’s chairman while Daniel Banerji has been assigned the role of convener.
The tournament will feature 30 league matches, semifinals and the final will be played in February 23. Each team will consist of a 15-player squad from seniors, U-23 and U-19 registered with UT Cricket Association.
A team will play five matches each in the league stage, with the top teams advancing to the knockout rounds.
