Pacific Classic (G1) runner-up Full Serrano reportedly
spiked a fever and will not be able to race Sept. 28 in the inaugural Grade 1,
$1 million California Crown at Santa Anita.

Trainer John Sadler told Daily Racing Form’s Steve
Andersen that the 5-year-old entire owned by Hronis Racing has recovered from
the illness that caused the high temperature and that he would be back in training
Friday at Santa Anita.

Sadler, however, told DRF he was not certain how soon
the son of Full Mast who was bred in South America would be able to resume
racing.

Full Serrano had 14 starts in his native Argentina and won five
times, including the December running of the Trieste Stakes at San Isidro.
After coming in seventh Feb. 3 in the 1 1/4-mile Gran Premio Miguel Alfredo
Martínez de Hoz (G1) over the same course for trainer Diego Peña, he was bought
by Hronis Racing in March and transferred to Sadler in California.

A six-month break from racing followed before Full Serrano
won his U.S. debut Aug. 3, a one-mile, $101,300 allowance race at Del Mar. That
was where he then finished second by a half-length Aug. 31 in the 1 1/4-mile Pacific
Classic in which he was caught at the wire by 22-1 long shot Mixto.
