It was an ugly game, until it wasn’t in a blink.
Michigan State basketball escaped with a stunning victory over No. 16 Maryland on Wednesday night thanks to a half-court buzzer-beater from Tre Holloman. The game-winning shot from Holloman lifted the Spartans to the 58-55 victory, and pushed Michigan State back into first-place in the league.
Holloman was the hero thanks to his game-winning bucket at the end, but it was Jase Richardson who had the best overall game for the Spartans. Richardson again led the Spartans in scoring with 15 points and was the only true consistent player on the floor for Michigan State on Wednesday.
With the win, Michigan State is now 23-5 overall and 14-3 in Big Ten play. The Spartans again hold a 1/2 game lead over rival Michigan in the Big Ten standings.
