KAPOLEI, Hawaii (10/30/24) – The Arkansas State men’s golf team carded a 10-over par 298 Wednesday and is sixth among 15 teams after 36 holes of the Kapolei Invitational hosted by the University of Hawaii at Kapolei Golf Club.
Following an opening round 3-under par 285, A-State has totaled 7-over par 585, one stroke back of Texas State and Utah Tech for fourth. Hawaii and Miami (Ohio) lead the field at 2-over par 574 with San Diego third at 2-over par 578. The Red Wolves are three strokes clear of Lamar (+10) for seventh while Utah Valley (+13), Army (+13), Butler (+14) and Eastern Kentucky (+14) complete the top 10 and ties.
The scoring average ticked up to 75.55 Wednesday after an average of 73.89 Tuesday. Milan Reed equaled his even-par 72 on Tuesday to pace A-State entering the final round at even-par 144 and 11th individually, four strokes back of the lead. Thomas Schmidt also repeated his first-round tally with a 1-over par 73 to join a host of players in 20th at 2-over par 146. Jack Maxey (70-76) and Chris Somerfield (71-75) are among those tied for 20th giving A-State four players in the top 20. Jake Lile (+4) is 35th while Jake Wallis (+6) is 46th.
