HENDERSON, Nev. (2/26/25) – The Arkansas State men’s golf team placed sixth among 15 teams at the Lake Las Vegas Invitational contested at Reflection Bay Golf Club to open the spring portion of the schedule.
A-State (54-19) totaled 2-under par 862 after a final round 2-over par 290 to close out the week. Long Beach State won the event at 34-under par 830 led by individual medalist Charlie Forster’s 13-under par 203. Northern Illinois (-9) was second followed by West Virginia (-8), Stetson (-7) and Louisiana (-4). The Red Wolves picked up wins over TCU (-1), Texas State (+2), Boise State (+3), DePaul (+12), Kansas City (+15), Eastern Michigan (+18), Southern Illinois (+32), Long Island (+33) and George Washington (+46).
Jake Wallis registered his third consecutive par or better round on the week finishing up at even par Wednesday to total 5-under par 211 and an eighth-place finish. Jake Lile was even for the second consecutive round and finished at 4-under par 212 to finish 12th. Jack Maxey produced the low round of the day among A-State’s players with a 2-under par 70 to close out the week at even-par 216 and 26th. Thomas Schmidt carded a 2-over par 74 to total 3-over par 219 and a tie for 32nd while Milan Reed tied for 38th at 4-over par 220. Chris Somerfield (+9) tied for 61st, Pierce Johnson (+10) tied for 66th and Cole Kirby (+14) tied for 77th to round out the eight Red Wolves in the field.
A-State returns to action March 11-12 at the Grand Canyon Invitational.
