Queen Camilla is still struggling to recover from a serious chest infection she got a month ago—and the queen reportedly revealed a new serious health update. On Monday, December 2, Buckingham Palace announced that Camilla would only be participating in indoor portions of the latest Windsor engagement: A state visit of Qatar’s Emir and his wife, which was attended by senior royals like Kate Middleton and Prince William. A day later, Camilla reportedly told guests at the Tuesday, December 3 engagements that she’d been diagnosed with pneumonia and was still recovering from post-viral fatigue.
While The Mirror reports that Camilla no longer has pneumonia, she’s been reportedly urged by doctors to spend more time resting and recovering as she’s been experiencing extreme tiredness in the aftermath of the viral lung disease. The Palace also cancelled all of her outdoor engagements as a precautionary measure, including Monday’s outdoor ceremonial welcome.

The health update comes after Camilla has missed a slew of major royal events due to ongoing symptoms from a chest infection, which she contracted shortly after her trip to Australia and Samoa. Over the past few weeks, the queen pulled out of planned appearances at the Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance as well as the weekend’s traditional Cenotaph wreath laying ceremony—both of which were attended by Princess Kate, who recently announced that she had finished treatment for cancer. Most recently, the queen bowed out of the Royal Variety Performance at Royal Albert Hall on November 22.

Just hours before the concert, the Palace released a statement saying, “Following a recent chest infection, The Queen continues to experience some lingering post-viral symptoms, as a result of which doctors have advised that, after a busy week of engagements, Her Majesty should prioritize sufficient rest.”

Despite missing some initial events on December 2, Camilla seemed to hint that she was on the mend as she headed back to work on Tuesday. Dressed in a royal blue coat, the queen joined King Charles, Kate, and William as they entertained the Qatari royalty at Buckingham Palace.
