The activities will take place from 10am to 12noon at the university’s Sports and Events Complex on February 11. Jassim al-Hamar, head, Activities and Fitness Programmes Section at QU will oversee the event.
This year’s event stands out for its inclusivity, covering all age groups, including students, the elderly, children, and individuals with special needs and their families.
A variety of sports halls and facilities have been designated to accommodate all participants, including a dedicated women’s gym, a children’s sports hall, and a wide range of sports activities tailored to different groups.
This year, the activities at QU will be held under the theme ‘Sports Unite Us,’ reflecting the event’s spirit and its goal of fostering social bonds and promoting health and fitness values within the university community.
Dr Senaid al-Marri, director of the Sports Affairs Department at QU, emphasised that the National Sport Day has significantly contributed to raising awareness about the importance of sports. He noted that QU’s participation in this national event stems from its commitment to sports and aligns with Islamic values, which encourage physical activity, reinforcing the saying that “a strong believer is better than a weak believer.”

The National Sport Day is an annual national occasion that highlights the importance of sports and physical activity in building a healthy and active society.”
Meanwhile, al-Hamar, stated, “The event programme will feature a variety of sports activities catering to students, faculty, staff, and their families.
