As part of its ongoing humanitarian response in Somalia, Qatar Charity has delivered two containers containing 250 tents to the National Disaster Management Authority to support its shelter initiatives.
This project highlights the commitment of Qatari donors to Qatar Charity’s global humanitarian efforts, aiming to alleviate the suffering of disaster-affected communities and provide them with adequate shelter in Somalia. It also underscores Qatar Charity’s dedication to collaborating with relevant local authorities to enhance humanitarian action and achieve the greatest impact.
The delivery ceremony was attended by His Excellency Dr. Abdullah bin Salem Al Nuaimi, Qatar’s Ambassador to Somalia, Dr. Ahmed Abd Adam, Deputy Chairman of the National Disaster Management Authority, and Mr. Abdul Fattah Adam Maalim, Director of Qatar Charity’s office in Somalia.
A Strategic Partnership
In his speech at the ceremony, Dr. Ahmed Abd Adam emphasized the significance of the strategic partnership between Qatar and Somalia, expressing his deep appreciation for Qatar Charity’s vital role in supporting his country’s efforts to mitigate the impact of natural disasters. He stated, “These donations are part of an ongoing series of collaborative projects aimed at strengthening the resilience of affected communities,” while highlighting the importance of both local and international cooperation in addressing humanitarian challenges.
Mr. Abdul Fattah Adam Maalim, Director of Qatar Charity’s office in Somalia, highlighted that this initiative reflects the fruitful collaboration between the two sides and reinforces the strong bond between them.
He also affirmed Qatar Charity’s unwavering commitment to supporting the Somali people under all circumstances. “These donations are part of our continuous efforts to provide aid and relief to those in need,” he said, adding, “We believe that cooperation is the key to overcoming the humanitarian challenges facing Somalia, and we extend our gratitude to all the donors in Qatar who have made this noble initiative possible.”
It is also noteworthy that in June 2024, Qatar Charity signed a strategic agreement with the National Disaster Management Authority aimed at further strengthening cooperation in disaster recovery. The agreement focuses on enhancing disaster response capabilities, providing joint humanitarian aid, and ensuring preparedness for future crises, reinforcing both parties’ commitment to achieving sustainable development and bolstering the resilience of communities to face future challenges.
