Qatar Open: Linette reaches last 16
Magda Linette advanced to the last 16 of the Qatar Open by edging out Magdalena Frech 7-5, 5-7, 6-4 at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex in Doha on Tuesday evening.
Linette, ranked No 36, will play Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk next.
Magda Linette edged out Russian qualifier Veronika Kudermetova (3-6, 6-0, 6-4) ahead of her victory.
In the previous round of the Qatar tournament, Frech, ranked No 28, won against Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia, the No 13 seed (6-4, 3-6, 6-2).
