QATAR. Qatar Duty Free (QDF) has appointed former Avolta Global Marketing Director Augusto Deymonnaz as Vice President of Marketing and Communications.
Deymonnaz brings 20 years of marketing experience and expertise to the QDF team, having held key positions spanning various industries, most notably in travel retail.
He held the Global Marketing Director role at travel retail to food & beverage powerhouse Avolta since January 2021, having joined the company in 2014 as Head of Global Marketing.
From 2006 to 2014, Deymonnaz was Marketing & Image Manager for South American duty-free retailer Interbaires (since acquired by Dufry, now Avolta) where he led the development and execution of innovative marketing strategies.
His leadership helped improve the passenger experience across multiple airports, with a strong focus on brand elevation, strategic sponsorships, promotions and tactical activations within the travel retail ecosystem.
Deymonnaz will draw on that collective experience to develop and deploy QDF’s marketing and communication strategy, aligning with the company’s brand vision and establishing its position as a world-leading travel retailer, QDF noted.
He is charged with ensuring QDF’s continued presence and strength in travel retail by introducing fresh and innovative marketing ideas and insights, with a strong focus on creative, trade marketing, events & sponsorships and corporate communications.
Deymonnaz further strengthens QDF’s senior leadership team, following a series of high-profile appointments in the past year, including Przemyslaw Lesniak, Grant Fleming, Nuno Moreira, Stuart Barnard and Garrett Coogan.
Qatar Airways Group Chief Retail and Hospitality Officer Thabet Musleh said: “I’m excited to welcome Augusto Deymonnaz to the QDF leadership team.
“His strong background in retail marketing and communications will be incredibly valuable to our business as we continue enhancing QDF’s visibility and messaging to customers, brand partners and stakeholders. I’m confident in Augusto’s leadership and ability to cement QDF’s status as a top industry leader.” ✈
