The four-day visit also involved overseeing the preparation of a large-scale humanitarian aid convoy to the Gaza Strip in partnership with the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organisation. The delegation was led by Ahmad Yusuf Fakhro, assistant CEO for Resource Development and Communications at QC.
The visit began with a tour of QC’s office in Jordan, where the delegation reviewed the organisation’s ongoing humanitarian interventions to support Syrian and Palestinian refugees as well as vulnerable Jordanian families. The delegation was briefed on the housing renovation project in the Dier Allaa region which aims to improve the living conditions of 39 homes creating safer and more sustainable environments for families in need.
The delegation also visited the warehouses of the Military Consumer Corporation, where they supervised the packing and preparation of a humanitarian aid convoy bound for Gaza. The convoy included 21,000 food parcels, sufficient for one week for the families, as well as 43,000 bags of flour, each weighing 10 kg. This initiative was part of QC’s urgent response to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people following the announcement of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, carried out in partnership with the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organisation.
“This convoy underscores Qatar Charity’s unwavering commitment to supporting our Palestinian brothers and sisters in Gaza. It’s part of our swift response to ease their hardships. Additionally, this visit is aimed at strengthening our humanitarian efforts in Jordan to support refugees and vulnerable communities, in collaboration with both local and international organisations,” Fakhro said in a statement.
The visit also included the distribution of winter aid as part of the “Warmth of Winter” campaign, which targeted several areas, including the Azmi Al-Mufti Palestinian refugee camp in Irbid, the Jerash district for Jordanian families, and the Al-Sakhneh camp in Zarqa.
Also, QC organised a meeting with several orphaned children who are not yet sponsored, with the goal of identifying their families and initiating their integration into Qatar Charity’s “Rofaqaa” programme for sponsored orphans. The event featured a range of activities, including educational sessions, musical performances, and sports events, creating an atmosphere of joy and positive interaction.
