Qatar Airways has been voted the world’s best airline at Skytrax’s 2024 World Airline Awards, the eighth time that the airline has won the honor in the 25-year history of the awards.
In addition to being named world’s best airline, Qatar Airways also won world’s best business class, world’s best business class lounge and best airline in the Middle East.
Last year’s winner for best airline, Singapore Airlines, was ranked second for 2024. Emirates was third, All Nippon Airways fourth and Cathay Pacific fifth out of more than 350 airlines included in the survey results.
Of the U.S. carriers, Delta was tops, finishing 21st for world’s best airline. Other U.S. airlines in the top 100 were United (42), Alaska (60), JetBlue (65), American (78), Allegiant (82), Sun Country (86), Breeze (91), Southwest (93) and Hawaiian (99).
Delta won best airline in North America, best business class in North America and best economy class in North America.
Allegiant Air won best low-cost airline in North America and most improved U.S. airline (Allegiant was 82 on the list of world’s best airlines, up from 121 last year).
Saudi Arabian Airlines won world’s most improved airline, beating out Starlux and Play, which finished second and third, respectively.
The Skytrax survey of airline customers was conducted from September 2023 to May 2024. Over 100 customer nationalities participated.
