A delegation from Qatar recently concluded a visit to the Sultan Qaboos Port in Muscat, Oman, on November 27-28. The group included representatives from Qatar Tourism, the Ministry of Interior, and several key maritime and customs authorities. The visit, organized through Oman’s Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, aimed to foster collaboration and enhance the cruise tourism sector in the region.
The delegation participated in high-level discussions with senior officials from Oman, including representatives from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Ministry of Transportation, the Royal Oman Police, and other stakeholders such as the port operator and the Coast Guard. These meetings provided a platform for exchanging best practices in port management, logistics, and passenger services while exploring opportunities to improve the cruise tourism experience in both countries.
The discussions focused on operational areas such as immigration and customs procedures, terminal logistics, and the roles of tour operators and ship agents. Both sides emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral ties and aligning strategies to drive sustainable growth in the cruise sector. By sharing expertise, the two nations aim to enhance the overall cruise experience and bolster the region’s appeal as a prime destination for cruise tourism.
Qatar’s cruise tourism has witnessed remarkable growth in recent years, becoming a key element of its national tourism strategy. For the 2024-2025 season, Doha Port is set to welcome over 90 cruise ships, underscoring its rising prominence in the global cruise industry. By fostering regional partnerships and aligning with international cruise lines and ports, Qatar Tourism is committed to driving further growth and contributing to the country’s broader economic diversification goals.
