Qatar Airways is expanding its presence in Saudi Arabia by resuming flights to Abha and increasing service to NEOM.
Starting January 2, 2025, the airline will operate two weekly flights to Abha International Airport. Additionally, flights to NEOM will increase from two to four per week during the winter season.
This network enhancement offers passengers more travel options and easy access to over 170 global destinations through Doha’s Hamad International Airport. The airport was recently named World’s Best Airport by Skytrax 2024.
Abha, known for its stunning scenery and rich culture, becomes Qatar Airways’ 11th destination in Saudi Arabia. It joins existing routes to AlUla, Dammam, Jeddah, Medina, NEOM, Qassim, Riyadh, Tabuk, Taif, and Yanbu.
With over 140 weekly flights to the Kingdom, Qatar Airways strengthens regional connectivity and supports Saudi Arabia’s growing tourism sector.
Travelers to NEOM can experience life in harmony with nature in this innovative “land of dreams.” The current twice-weekly service will double to four flights per week this winter, catering to increasing demand for this futuristic destination.
NEOM’s unique blend of technology and sustainability makes it an attractive option for both business and leisure travelers.
Qatar Airways Group CEO, Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer, said: “Resuming Abha flights and increasing NEOM frequencies reinforces our commitment to Saudi Arabia.”
“We’re excited to connect passengers to these sought-after destinations through our world-class hub in Doha. This expansion aligns with our strategy to enhance regional connectivity and support Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 objectives.”
Saudi Air Connectivity Program CEO, Mr. Majid Khan, added further comment. “We’re delighted that Qatar Airways will resume direct flights to Abha and increase service to NEOM.”
“This supports our strategy to showcase Saudi Arabia’s tourism potential to a global audience. The enhanced connectivity will play a crucial role in attracting international visitors to our diverse and captivating destinations.”
Cluster 2 Airports Company CEO, Engr. Ali Masrahi, stated: “This partnership aligns with our National Aviation Strategy goals. We’re dedicated to elevating our airports’ status and providing top-tier aviation services. The increased flights will contribute significantly to our airports’ growth and the overall development of the region’s aviation infrastructure.”
Aseer Development Authority Acting CEO, Engr. Hashim Al-Dabbagh, expressed enthusiasm about the route resumption, noting its potential to boost regional connectivity and tourism. He emphasized the importance of international air links in promoting Abha as a prime tourist destination.
Passengers from Abha will enjoy easy connections to Dubai, Manila, and Sharjah, along with access to Hamad International Airport’s world-class facilities. This connectivity opens up new opportunities for business and leisure travelers alike, fostering cultural exchange and economic growth.
