• Toronto, Qatar Airways’ new route.

• The capital city of the province of Ontario will become Qatar’s second destination in Canada.

The airline continues to expand its services in the Americas with the launch of flights between Doha and Toronto effective December 11th. According to the press release, Qatar Airways will offer three weekly frequencies on this route by Boeing 777-300(ER) aircraft, configured for 354 passengers in two classes.

Qatar will reach 13 destinations in North America, of which 11 are regular routes to the United States. In addition, including South America, the company will have 14 routes on the continent, only considering passenger flights.

With this schedule, Qatar Airways will provide 1,062 seats per week between Doha and Toronto and vice versa, surpassing 4,000 monthly seats. Qatar, on the Doha – Montreal route, which has a daily frequency, offers almost 10,000 seats a month per way.

“The addition of a fourteenth gateway to our Americas network is also a testament to our aim in maintaining a key presence across the local market, and cements our reputation as a reliable global connector.”

The airline entered the Canadian market on June 14th, 2011, with the Doha – Montreal route, serving three weekly flights. After seven and a half years with the same schedule, Qatar increased to four times per week in December 2018, reaching daily frequency in February 2021.

Qatar never stopped operating to Montreal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport throughout the Coronavirus pandemic.

At the time of publication, in the Americas, Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, Montreal, New York, San Francisco, Sao Paulo, Seattle and Washington DC are its destinations, with Brazil, Canada and the United States being the countries.

In March 2023, Qatar Airways had announced the resumption of flights to Buenos Aires as of December 8th, following three and a half years of suspension. The company ceased operations to the Argentine capital in March 2020 due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

Finally, months after the announcement, such resumption to Argentina was postponed, with no confirmed start date. Qatar planned to offer a daily frequency on the Doha – Sao Paulo Guarulhos – Buenos Aires route on Boeing 777-300(ER) planes, a similar schedule to the one provided prior to COVID-19, as it previously flew Boeing 777-200(LR) jets.

Regarding its other South American destination, Sao Paulo, Airbus A350-1000s will resume operations from Doha effective October 29th. One daily frequency will be performed with Boeing 777-200(LR), and the other by A350-1000.

At publication time, the company has more than 170 scheduled destinations to/from its major hub at Hamad International Airport in Doha. These services are carried out between the 254 aircraft in its fleet (29 Airbus A320-200, 3 Airbus A330-200, 7 Airbus A330-300, 34 Airbus A350-900, 24 Airbus A350-1000, 8 Airbus A380, 9 Boeing 737 MAX 8, 35 Boeing 777-200(LR), 57 Boeing 777-300(ER), 30 Boeing 787-8 and 18 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner).

As well as the new service to Toronto, the airline will increase its weekly frequencies to Amsterdam, London Heathrow, Male, Miami, Neom Bay and Tokyo Narita. Qatar Airways will also add a new route to Abha, expanding its network between Qatar and Saudi Arabia.

With respect to recent launches, Hamburg, Lisbon, Tashkent and Venice were the routes inaugurated by Qatar Airways from Doha, which will be offered with the following schedule:
